The name sure gives one the impression that Perricone MD Neuropeptide Firming Moisturizer is a medically advanced product that will firm, lift, and tone the skin, while eliminating deep lines and wrinkles. But what exactly is "neuropeptide" and does this product and its so-called "powerful patented anti-aging ingredients" really work? Let's take a look.
Neuropeptide is medical jargon for the tiny molecules in your body that influence brain activity. They basically help deliver messages to and from the brain when it comes to food intake, reward, learning, and memory. Okay, but what exactly does that have to do with your skin?
In reading Perricone MD's explanation of how neuropeptides benefit the skin, they do an excellent job of explaining how neuropeptides work, but provide no real explanation or factual evidence on how applying neuropeptides or his Neuropeptide Firming Moisturizer to the skin reverses the signs of aging.
According to the official Perricone MD website, the secret anti-aging ingredients formulated into Neuropeptide Firming Moisturizer are DMAE, phospholipids, and tocotrienols. However, none of those ingredients are neuropeptides and they are not uncommon in terms of skincare products. They also have not been clinically proven to eliminate wrinkles or reverse the signs of aging.
The neuropeptide in this moisturizer is acetyl hexapeptide-8—the same ingredient found in the majority of anti-wrinkle creams on the market, including the inexpensive brands. So what makes Perricone MD Neuropeptide Firming Moisturizer so different that it costs $280 for 2 ounces? As far as we can tell, not much if anything at all.
With all the marketing hype aside, what's important to know about the Neuropeptide Firming Moisturizer is that like most face creams, a number of women who use it report a visible decrease in the appearance of fine lines. But like the majority of anti-wrinkle creams, the effects are temporary and achieved only with continued use of the product.
The majority of its users do report that the cream gives the skin a tight, firming feel when applied, similar to what you might feel when you apply a toner or astringent to your skin. The cream is also lightweight and absorbs quickly into the skin. It's also reported to smell better than other Perricone MD products.
On the downside is a small percentage of women who report developing dry, flaky skin after using Perricone MD Neuropeptide Firming Moisturizer. Though every person's skin is different, those who have experienced this adverse effect could have had a reaction to the fragrance that's included in the product. It is for this reason that the product is not recommended for those allergic to fragrance.
The overall consensus on Perricone MD Neuropeptide Firming Moisturizer is that it's an over-priced face cream that doesn't offer any more benefits than less expensive brands. But if you don't mind spending a few Benjamins for a cream that feels good on the face and temporarily diminishes fine lines, this product delivers. But if you're looking for this product to produce the skin-firming and anti-wrinkle miracles that Dr. Perricone claims, save your money.

This is a great lightweight cream that absorbs really nicely and evenly. I have used some other really high quality expensive creams, but I have to admit, this stuff is really amazing. I feel like my skin glows and it helps erase those small fine lines that we all hate. You know a product works when friends keep commenting! It costs a lot, but at least it delivers!
A very nice cream, but the price was way too high and I don't feel that it improved my skin to the point where I can justify the purchase. I am actually debating on returning it, but I feel bad, so maybe I will try it a bit longer to see if I notice any changes in the long run.
I'd bought different perricone products before on QVC, so I had very high expectations to start with. However, with this particular product my face starting to break out very badly. I couldn't believe it. I totally freaked out. It wasn't just small zits; it was full entire areas of acne. I obviously immediately stopped using it and rash ended after a day or so. I must have an allergy to one of the ingredients, although this has never happened to me before. So I can't recommend this one.
My skin started to improve within 3 days of using. This is a great cream. Worth every hard earned dollar!
